Computer Repair Training

One thing’s for sure: computers are NOT going away. As technology continues to improve, it’s important for you to have the correct computer repair training. When something goes wrong with your computer, we can fix it for you. However, unlike most computer repair companies, we’ll also tell you WHAT we did and HOW to avoid the same issue in the future. Here are some common computer issues that you may find and some easy troubleshooting tips:

My Computer is Slow

This is a very vague problem, that has many solutions. The first thing to consider is “How old is your computer?” Computers are not designed to last forever. Computer parts WILL fail. It’s not a question of “if”, it’s a question of “when”. If your computer is 3 years old or older, you can expect it to slow down some. This can be the cause of your computer slowness. If this is the case, we recommend shutting down your computer and unplugging it. Take the cover off of the machine and then using compressed air, blow out the dust that has settled inside your computer, especially around any moving parts (like fans). Dust can collect in these places and slow down or stop the spinning of a fan and keep your computer from running at optimal speed.

You could also have a virus on your computer. Contrary to popular belief, just having an anti-virus program isn’t enough to protect you from ever getting a virus. Sometimes viruses hide themselves inside websites or other programs. If you’ve ever gotten an email from UPS, asking you to open up an attachment that’s a zip file and contains an exe file, then you’ve seen a masked virus.

The problem with viruses is that once you are infected, many of them are able to hide themselves from antivirus programs so they won’t be found, or they regenerate them selves upon a computer reboot.  One of the best ways to scan for a virus is to restart your computer in safe mode. Once there, you can run your anti-virus program to track down any viruses and delete them from your computer.

Why Computer Repair Training Is Important

The more you know about something, the less mysterious it becomes. While we can help you with any of your computer problems, many issues can be resolved with just a little effort and training on your end. This can save you money because you won’t have to contact an expert except in those cases where you have done the basic troubleshooting and are still experiencing issues.
